Job summary

Yellowknife Education District No. 1 is seeking a Receptionist/Communications Support for the YK1 District Office. The role reports as Communications Officer and handles front-desk duties while coordinating the district's public relations and communications activities.

Candidate must have a degree in communications and at least five years in a related role, with strong proficiency in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and website management. A Vulnerable Sector Check is required before employment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a secretary, administrative assistant, office manager, or communications-related role.
  • Skilled in operating office equipment and receptionist functions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, website management, and other applicable software systems.
  • Experience managing an organization's communications plan, including social media under direction of district leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Communications Officer for the District and as the first point of contact for the public and district employees.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver the District's public relations and communications activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive district, personnel, or student information.
