Job description

Olameter Inc. has an immediate opening for a Project Supervisor at our Nanaimo, BC location. This position supports our Gas Meter Survey project with FortisBC, involving brief inspections of gas meters. The project is estimated to be completed by 4/2021.

Position Overview

This is a working supervisor role. In addition to supervising the daily work of Gas Meter Survey Technicians, the Supervisor will also conduct gas meter surveys. The Supervisor provides training, acts as the subject matter expert on gas meter inspection and surveying, ensures work quality and efficiency, and resolves customer and employee issues. The role assists the Project Manager in coordinating all project phases, including testing and training staff. Responsibilities also include participating in hiring, discipline, and employee termination processes.

Compensation

$300.00 per week, paid at $0.97 per meter, averaging $23-24/hr, with potential for higher earnings based on productivity. Mileage reimbursement is provided at $0.45 per kilometer. The position may require some overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Ensure route schedules are completed as planned.
• Recommend adjustments to improve efficiency and reduce costs, and update data in IFS.
• Provide on-the-job training and guidance to field staff, interpret and implement company procedures, and assist with customer issue reporting.
• Perform field inspections and ensure safety standards are followed.
• Resolve customer issues and escalate when necessary.
• Provide daily reports and performance feedback to the Project Manager.
• Assist in hiring, discipline, and termination processes; perform survey routes.
• Perform other duties as required.

Preferred Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent; supervisory experience required.
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to teach and train others; field or utility experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data entry on handheld devices or databases.
• Ability to read maps and locate addresses.
• Professional communication with customers.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
