Job Description

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Events & Mulock Park, the Program Coordinator – Events supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of community programs and events. Responsibilities include supervising part-time staff and volunteers, increasing community awareness, and encouraging participation in events at the Town’s facilities.

Job Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma in Recreation or related field, with 2+ years of experience in recreation programs or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership in recreation planning and programming, including staff supervision.
  • Experience with recruitment, payroll, and e-recruit software.
  • Experience coordinating indoor and outdoor activities and events.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with report writing, spreadsheets, graphics, registration systems, contract development, financial reconciliation, scheduling, and Microsoft Office; Xplor experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of legislation related to bookings and community events, such as Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health Act, AODA, and others.
  • Familiarity with Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO), Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO), and municipal recreation practices.
  • Physical ability to load/unload event equipment and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention or Safe Management certification is an asset.
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Successful police Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and at different sites, with 50-70% of work during evenings and weekends.
