Production & Materials Planner
Burlington, ON
Airborne Electro-Optical Systems
About the Job
PV Labs is a small, but highly specialized, aerospace systems component engineering company designing and building next-generation airborne imaging systems. In this role, you won't just be issuing schedules and managing kits; you'll be the orchestrator of how our cutting-edge technology gets built and delivered. From aligning engineering release cycles with long-lead material planning to managing kit accuracy and production sequencing, you're at the core of how we turn complexity into capability.
This is not a back-office coordination role; it's a high-trust, high-collaboration position that sits at the intersection of production, engineering, procurement, and program delivery. Success here is not just about what you do; it's about how you do it. You'll need to build relationships across functions, gain credibility with technicians and engineers, and communicate production realities with diplomacy and clarity.
In a larger company, this would be three roles. At PV Labs, it's one, and we'll give you the autonomy and support to own it, shape it, and evolve it. It'll be the hardest job you've ever loved.
What You'll Own
- Production Planning & Scheduling
- Translate program milestones, engineering release schedules, and supply chain constraints into executable short- and mid-term production plans.
- Maintain enough flexibility to handle first-article builds, technical changes, and rework loops without losing delivery discipline.
- Drive coordination across engineering, procurement, and assembly to ensure material availability and resource alignment at every stage.
- Inventory & Materials Management
- Own the balance between inventory control and production readiness, ensuring long-lead items are forecasted without excessive stock.
- Use our ERP system (Genius) to track part movement, BOM integrity, material traceability, and alignment to production needs.
- Lead cycle counts and inventory reconciliation, ensuring data integrity across stores, finance, and production.
- Kitting & Assembly Support
- Ensure every kit is correct the first time: accurate, complete, and built to match structured BOMs.
- Support lean and traceable sub-assembly and final assembly builds by driving kit preparation, labeling, configuration, and documentation.
- Be the go-to resource for Stores operations and a key partner to the Engineering and Assembly teams.
- Supply Chain Localization & Dual-Build Enablement
- Support our growth into regional manufacturing by planning phased transitions to in-country or in-region builds.
- Integrate partner lead times, export requirements, and localized sourcing strategies into a unified master plan.
- Help establish regional planning capabilities that mirror our high-complexity, low-volume production model.
- Performance Analysis & Planning Intelligence
- Develop dashboards and metrics that measure schedule attainment, material readiness, and delivery performance.
- Investigate planning delays, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve the system.
- Use data to create transparency, drive better decisions, and ensure production planning evolves with business complexity.
Who You Are
- A proactive planner who thrives at the center of cross-functional activity.
- A master of clarity, able to explain complex planning realities to engineers, technicians, and executives alike.
- Unflappable under pressure; comfortable adjusting plans, priorities, and communications when things shift.
- Someone who cares about relationships and follow-through as much as data accuracy and production control.
- You've likely built planning frameworks before or been the one to fix broken ones.
- You have a strong understanding of discrete manufacturing, ideally in high-complexity electro-mechanical, aerospace, or defense environments.
- You know how to work with an ERP, but also recognize when it's the conversation, not the system, that solves the problem.
Requirements
- 7+ years in production planning, scheduling, or materials coordination in a complex, low-volume manufacturing environment.
- Background in aerospace, defense, optics, or precision electro-mechanical systems preferred.
- Bachelor's in Engineering, Operations, or Supply Chain, or equivalent hands-on expertise and results.
- APICS CPIM (or working towards it) is a plus.
- Strong Excel and ERP planning skills.
Nicetohavements
- Previously built a production planning framework from scratch.
- Experience with Genius ERP (other ERPs are acceptable).
- Previous experience in the aerospace and/or defense industry.
- Familiarity with export compliance, configuration control, and Lean principles.
- No reservations about being at the epicenter of key production planning disciplines as we grow and scale.
The PV Labs Culture
We move fast. We build things that fly. We don't do ego; we do execution. We're protective of our culture and focus on fit-first, skills-second hiring.
At PV Labs, you'll work with sharp, motivated people excited to solve tough problems and deliver disruptive technology. We’ve adopted a 4-day work week (yes, really) because we value performance over presence. With hybrid flexibility, we trust you to work from where you're most effective.
You'll be a key player in a rapidly scaling company, building things the big guys can’t. If you're ready to roll up your sleeves and help us build what's next, we want to hear from you. Yes, we have a 4-day work week, free fresh fruit weekly, Timbit Tuesdays, and Bagel Thursdays.
