To keep our purpose at the forefront, we have rebranded from 'Investment Specialist' to 'Financial Planner' under Scotia Financial Planning. Join a purpose-driven, results-oriented team in an inclusive, high-performing culture!

As a Financial Planner, you will focus on developing and deepening client relationships by providing high-quality advice and service to the mass affluent market. You understand that growing a practice involves building long-term relationships, leveraging your external networks, and welcoming the freedom to grow your own practice. Your clients are your greatest asset, and your priority is delivering investment and financial planning advice to help meet their unique goals.

You excel at building new relationships and enjoy meeting clients outside the office, on a schedule that suits both parties. You appreciate working within a collective Scotiabank framework that benefits your clients and your practice.

Following a comprehensive financial planning framework, you will be responsible for driving investment sales and new client acquisition while adhering to global sales principles, compliance, and regulatory requirements. You will also establish business development opportunities within your assigned market area.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Promote the development and sustainable growth of proprietary investment business by:

  • Business Development: Executing plans for prospects and existing clients, identifying new opportunities, and facilitating investment solutions or referrals.
  • Client-Centric: Providing client-focused investment solutions, conducting outbound communications, needs analyses, and maintaining a strong market presence.
  • Community Involvement: Participating in local events, delivering community sessions, and building your network within the market area.

Do you have the skills to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • At least 3 years of experience in financial planning and investment sales.
  • Current mutual funds licensing and accreditation (MFDA, Investments Funds in Canada, or Canadian Securities Course).
  • Completed or working towards a Personal Financial Planning (PFP) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
  • Proven networking, client acquisition, and interpersonal skills, with experience building Centres of Influence.
  • Goal-oriented, entrepreneurial, and able to work independently and within a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory environment.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for client meetings.

What’s in it for you?

  • An entrepreneurial culture with career development opportunities.
  • A flexible, fast-paced work environment with setting your own hours and client meetings.
  • Compensation based on base salary plus variable pay, rewarding client growth and retention.
  • Access to cutting-edge resources, including marketing support, mobile technology, CRM, and financial planning software.
  • The chance to build lasting client relationships through exceptional service.
  • Partnerships with branches and Scotia Global Asset Management to enhance client experiences.
  • A diverse, respectful, and inclusive work culture.
