Overview

Chez Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, nous cherchons sans relâche à repousser les limites de la performance de culture. Scotts Canada Ltd., in St. Margaret's, NB, is seeking a highly-motivated individual to fill a Production Foreman vacancy. Duties will begin approximately late April, but on-boarding and training will begin immediately. During the production season, shifts will begin at 4:30 PM, but on-boarding will be 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Reporting to the Site Manager, the Production Foreman will be responsible for:

Responsibilities

• Ensuring a safe work environment by enforcing rules pertaining to Health & Safety
• Maintaining quality standards
• Ensuring production targets are met or exceeded
• Training, developing & evaluating employees
• Hiring
• Discipline
• Supporting other departments, projects and initiatives

Typical day

• Perform hand-off with previous Production Foreman to discuss safety, quality and production issues from the previous shift
• Perform a pre-shift toolbox meeting with the crew
• Assign and coordinate work for the shift, making adjustment as required
• Collect inspection and production records from previous shift for tabulation
• Continuously monitor the operation of the site and equipment, focusing on safety, quality and productivity
• Ensure adequate quantities of raw material and packaging
• Covering for absent operators, if necessary
• Coordinating efficient repairs for unexpected equipment breakdowns
• Immediately communicate unexpected events with pertinent individuals following an escalation procedure
• Completing a shift wrap-up report

Applicants must

• Demonstrate ability to work in a safe manner, maintain a good work ethic, set a good example and display a good attitude
• Display a mindset of continuous improvement and organization
• Have a minimum of Grade 12 education
• Have reliable transportation
• Work independently and as part of a team
• Be capable of working overtime
• Be capable of working in a dusty environment and in cold and hot conditions
• Be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
• Have experience and/or training in a supervisory role, preferably in a unionized work environment
• Submit to a personality profile evaluation, competency test and skills evaluation (online and in-person)
• Provide a driver’s abstract
• Meet minimum performance standards

Assets

• Bilingualism (English and French)
• Training in First Aid, WHMIS, Confined Space, Fall Arrest etc.
• Training and experience in Lean Manufacturing principles
• Experience operating mechanized packaging equipment, forklifts, loaders, etc.
