Qualifications

  • Formal training as Electrician or in electrical engineering with relevant experience.

Position: Power Technician @ Ottawa site

Your future role

As a Power Technician, you will provide technical expertise in troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment to ensure the safety, availability, and reliability of the Power Supply and Distribution (PS&D) System, including power substation equipment, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), cabling, OCS, and Tunnel Lighting, in line with specified Quality procedures.

The Power Technician supports a 7-day week rail operation, working rotating shifts on a continuous cycle, performing all technical work related to TPS maintenance.

All activities will be performed in accordance with strict Health & Safety procedures as prescribed by legislation and Alstom policies, while interacting daily with co-workers, external suppliers, and management.

The hourly rate starts at $34.48 and increases to $38.96 after completing the 9-month probation period.

Your responsibilities include

  • Complying with and enforcing EHSS policies and rules
  • Performing inspections, maintenance, and complex troubleshooting repairs on traction power voltage 1500V and above
  • Monitoring systems, circuit breakers, and other TPS components
  • Reporting all activities accurately and on time in the Maintenance Management database
  • Implementing field modifications

What we look for in you

  • Educational background or formal training as Electrician or in electrical engineering, combined with relevant experience
  • Underground/OH High Voltage and/or Lineman experience preferred
  • EHS champion and field expert
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong computer skills
  • License G mandatory; other licenses (truck/trailer) desirable
