Summary

We seek a solution-oriented PLC Technician for 1st shift at our Acheson, Alberta facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role suits those who enjoy problem-solving in a fast-paced, state-of-the-art environment.

Typical Day

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, food safety, and environmental policies.
• Install, program, calibrate, troubleshoot, and commission electrical/instrumentation devices including VFDs, transmitters, flow meters, motors, panels, and PLCs.
• Perform scheduled checks on production lines and robots.
• Develop or modify logic code, troubleshoot, and read logic ladders.
• Work with HMI graphics creation or modification.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for production and process issues.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic problems with minimal supervision.
• Maintain records of modifications and repairs.
• Coordinate with other departments to communicate work plans.
• Adhere to health and safety policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting PLC, control, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
• Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC, Rockwell Viewpoint, FactoryTalk View SE/ME, Vantage Point; Ignition and SQL/Python scripting a plus.
• Understanding of wiring diagrams, panel drawings, and loop sheets.
• Strong analytical and scientific aptitude.
• Self-motivated and team-oriented.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• Ability to plan and execute projects with attention to detail.
• Diplomatic and professional interpersonal skills.
• Ability to pass drug, alcohol, and criminal checks.
• Availability for flexible scheduling, including weekends.

Working Conditions

• Monday to Friday, 5:30 am – 2 pm, with flexibility for evenings, nights, and weekends.
• Manual dexterity for computer use.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 kg safely.
