Design Technician (QA/QC of Telecom Designs)

Job Type: Regular - Full Time

As a Design Technician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all design projects meet the highest standards of accuracy and quality. You will become a subject matter expert on client design standards and conduct quality assurance reviews of all designs to ensure full compliance.

Your responsibilities include reviewing and interpreting site drawings, providing insights on improvements, and ensuring seamless project execution while fostering collaboration across teams and partners.

This role primarily focuses on Quality Assurance/Quality Checks on telecom (fiber) designs completed by our partners. It does not involve drafting or design duties; the focus is on QA/QC of partner-completed designs.

This is a remote work opportunity, with occasional site meetings in/around Calgary. Candidates must have access to a personal vehicle.

OPPORTUNITIES:

• Become an expert on client design standards, ensuring adherence across projects.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews to confirm compliance and identify improvements.
• Review and interpret site drawings and digitize plans accurately.
• Assist in designing new plant extensions and producing maps for construction.
• Design fiber optic communication networks per client specifications.
• Coordinate with Permit departments and Coordinators for construction design information.
• Determine methods for plant changes with minimal system/customer impact and cost.
• Ensure designs are high quality, timely, and meet client standards and specifications.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

• 3-5 years of experience in Telecommunications or related field
• Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite
• AutoCAD familiarity is an asset
• Excellent attention to detail
• Knowledge of construction methodologies and engineering design/survey methods is an asset
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude
• Personal vehicle for occasional site visits in/around Calgary
