Job summary

Dynacare is seeking a Laboratory Assistant - FLOAT to join our Ontario labs. You will obtain quality blood samples and perform patient tests, contributing to accurate data and positive patient experiences.

This permanent, part-time role offers 15 hours per week, day shifts across multiple locations (Peterborough, Kingston, Port Perry, Amherstview, Belleville, Northbrook and Cannington). You bring phlebotomy training, strong English communication, and a patient-centered approach; MLPAO/CSMLS

Qualifications

• Completed Secondary School and a Laboratory Assistant training program or a Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomy.
• Customer-focused with a genuine care for patient health.
• Demonstrate skill in phlebotomy and calming anxious patients during sample collection.
• MLPAO/CSMLS Certification is strongly recommended.

Responsibilities

• Create an ideal customer experience that is best in class for our products and services.
• Accurately enter data, patient, and test information for Ministry of Health requisitions.
• Obtain quality blood samples and other specimens from patients using venipuncture techniques.
• Sort and steer specimens, perform ECGs, Holter hookups, paternity, urine, drug and breath alcohol collections.
• Ensure specimens and documentation are completed per SOPs and ready for data entry and transport to the laboratory.
• Maintain confidentiality and contribute to quality metrics and regulatory compliance.
