Job summary

Dynacare in Ontario offers a Laboratory Assistant (Float) role responsible for obtaining quality blood samples and performing various specimen collections, while delivering excellent patient care and service. The position requires phlebotomy skills, strong data entry, and adherence to SOPs in a multi-location setting.

You will work across locations, including Guelph, Milton, Acton, Mississauga, and Oakville, in day shifts, with a permanent, full-time schedule and guaranteed 25 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Secondary School and a Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistant course with phlebotomy
• Strong customer-focused approach and care for patient health
• Proficiency in phlebotomy and calming anxious patients
• Ability to manage deadlines and stay organized
• Excellent attention to detail and clear communication in English
• MLPAO/CSMLS certification is strongly recommended

Responsibilities

• Create an ideal customer experience for our products and services
• Accurately enter patient and test information for Ministry of Health requisitions
• Obtain quality blood samples and other specimens using venipuncture according to SOPs
• Sort and steer specimens, perform ECGs/Holters/paternity/urine/drug and breath alcohol collections
• Ensure documentation is complete and ready for data entry and transport to the lab
• Maintain confidentiality and support quality metrics and regulatory compliance
