Job summary

Neighbourly Pharmacy, Canada’s largest network of community pharmacies, is seeking a Part-Time Pharmacy Assistant for Rx Drug Mart in Wingham, Ontario. You will support pharmacists with packaging, data entry, dispensing tasks, and patient service in a fast-paced community setting.

The role requires accuracy, good communication, and the ability to multitask. On-the-job training is available; flexible hours including evenings and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is preferred.
• Experience in a pharmacy is an asset; on-the-job training provided.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; capable of thriving in a team environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and pharmacy software (training provided).
• Ability to stand for long periods and occasionally lift boxes/containers.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Blister packs & compliance packaging: filling and sealing multi-dose blister packs accurately.
• Prescription processing: entering patient, insurance, and doctor data into pharmacy software.
• Dispensing support: counting pills, measuring liquids, and labeling under pharmacist supervision.
• Inventory control: checking stock, ordering supplies, and removing expired products.
• POS & billing: operating cash registers and processing third-party insurance claims.
• Attention to detail: double-checking work to ensure zero medication errors.
• Time management: multitasking efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Teamwork: working seamlessly with pharmacists and technicians to meet deadlines.

Compensation listed is a starting point only and will be determined based on candidate experience.

Patient Focused Care Responsibilities

• Blister Packs & Compliance Packaging: Filling and sealing multi-dose blister packs accurately.
• Prescription Processing: Entering patient, insurance, and doctor data into pharmacy software.
• Dispensing Support: Counting pills, measuring liquids, and labeling under pharmacist supervision.
• Inventory Control: Checking stock, ordering supplies, and removing expired products.
• POS & Billing: Operating cash registers and processing third-party insurance claims
• Attention to Detail: Double-checking work to ensure zero medication errors
• Focus & Concentration: Maintaining accuracy during repetitive packaging tasks.
• Customer Service: Assisting patients warmly and professionally in person and by phone.
• Time Management: Multitasking efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Teamwork: Working seamlessly with pharmacists and technicians to meet deadlines.
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is preferred
• Previous experience within a pharmacy is an asset (on-the-job training will be provided)

Schedule:

There are two shifts available:

• Shift 1: Monday-Friday 10:00 AM-3:00 PM
• Shift 2: Monday 3:00 PM–8:00 PM, Thursday & Friday9:00 AM–2:00 PM
