Job summary

Carefor Health & Community Services is Eastern Ontario’s leading not-for-profit home care and community support provider. This role focuses onPersonal Support, homemaking, and collaboration with the health care team in home settings.

The position runs Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• Ontario Certified Personal Support Worker Certificate or NAC Certificate or Certificate in Home Support Worker (Level II, III) or Developmental Service Worker program, Health Care Aide, Foreign-Trained BScN, Paramedic Graduate, BScN Nursing Student or second year RPN student.
• Clear Vulnerable Sector check (obtained within previous six months)
• Up to date immunizations for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, rubella, and hepatitis
• Negative tuberculosis test
• Experience with Palliative Care is considered an asset
• First Aid CPR is considered an asset
• Vehicle is required

Responsibilities

• Assist in activities of daily living including eating, dressing, transferring, grooming, and bathing
• Provide laundering of clothes and linens
• Provide light cleaning
• Provide respite care
• Provide light meal preparation
• Provide cognitive, social, and compassionate support
• Document reports for client plans and changes in daily routines
• Other related duties and tasks as assigned by the Supervisor in compliance with OH&S legislation and Carefor policies

The Personal/Home Support Worker provides personal support and homemaking services to individuals and families in the home within the framework of Carefor policies, procedures, standards and quality & risk management. Collaborates with all members of the health care team to meeting the needs of individuals and attain an optimal level of independence and well-being.

Please note that this role is Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There are no weekend or holiday shifts—only daytime shifts.

• Ontario Certified Personal Support Worker Certificate and/or National Association of Career Colleges (NAC) Certificate, or Certificate in Home Support Worker (Level II, III), or Developmental Service Worker program, Health Care Aide, Foreign-Trained BScN, Paramedic Graduate, BScN Nursing Student, or second year RPN student.
