Job summary

Carefor is seeking a Personal/Home Support Worker for a temporary 3-month contract in Eastern Ontario. The role covers personal care, homemaking, and companionship, with night hours 2300-0700 on a rotating Friday schedule.

A strong focus on maintaining independence and dignity for clients is emphasized. Qualifications include an OSWP/NAC level certificate and vulnerable sector check; immunizations and a valid driver’s license may be required.

Qualifications

• Ontario Certified Personal Support Worker Certificate and/or NAC Certificate, or Level II/III Home Support Worker, or Developmental Service Worker program, Health Care Aide, Foreign-Trained BScN or Doctor, Paramedic Graduate, BScN Nursing Student, or second year RPN student.
• Clear Vulnerable Sector check (obtained within previous six months)
• Up to date immunizations for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, rubella, and hepatitis
• Negative tuberculosis test
• Experience with Palliative Care is considered an asset
• First Aid CPR is considered an asset
• Vehicle is required

Responsibilities

• Assist in the activities of daily living including eating, dressing, transferring, grooming, and bathing
• Provide laundering of clothes and linens
• Provide light cleaning
• Provide respite care
• Provide light meal preparation
• Provide cognitive, social, and compassionate support
• Document reports for clients on their plan of care and any changes in the behaviour of daily routines
• Other related duties and tasks as assigned by the Supervisor in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and Carefor policies and procedures.

Education

Ontario Certified Personal Support Worker Certificate (or NAC/Level II/III Home Support Worker)

Overview

The Personal/Home Support Worker provides personal support and homemaking services to individuals and families in the home within the framework of Carefor policies, procedures, standards and quality & risk management. Collaborates with all members of the health care team to meeting the needs of individuals and attain an optimal level of independence and well-being.

Temporary 3 months with the possibility of extension, PT 0.4

Hours of work: 2300-0700; Week 1- Friday; Week 2- Friday, Saturday, Sunday
