Job summary

Carefor Health & Community Services is seeking a Personal/Home Support Worker to provide in-home care and homemaking services to clients in Eastern Ontario. The role collaborates with the health care team to support independence and well-being.

The position operates Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with daytime shifts and no weekends or holidays. Competitive wages and strong benefits accompany ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Ontario PSW certification or equivalent as listed in the qualifications.
  • Vulnerable Sector check recent (within 6 months).
  • Up-to-date immunizations for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, rubella, and hepatitis.
  • Negative tuberculosis test.
  • First Aid CPR is an asset.
  • Vehicle is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist activities of daily living (eating, dressing, transferring, grooming, bathing).
  • Laundering of clothes and linens.
  • Light cleaning.
  • Provide respite care.
  • Light meal preparation.
  • Provide cognitive, social, and compassionate support.
  • Document reports for clients’ plans of care and changes in routines.

Overview

The Personal/Home Support Worker provides personal support and homemaking services to individuals and families in the home within the framework of Carefor policies, procedures, standards and quality & risk management. Collaborates with all members of the health care team to meeting the needs of individuals and attain an optimal level of independence and well‑being.

Please note that this role is Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There are no weekend or holiday shifts—only daytime shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the activities of daily living including eating, dressing, transferring, grooming, and bathing
  • Provide laundering of clothes and linens
  • Provide light cleaning
  • Provide respite care
  • Provide light meal preparation
  • Provide cognitive, social, and compassionate support
  • Document reports for clients on their plan of care and any changes in the behaviour of daily routines
  • Other related duties and tasks as assigned by the Supervisor in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and Carefor policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Ontario Certified Personal Support Worker Certificate and/or National Association of Career Colleges (NAC) Certificate, or Certificate in Home Support Worker (Level II, III), or Developmental Service Worker program, Health Care Aide, Foreign‑Trained BScN or Doctor, Paramedic Graduate, BScN Nursing Student, or second year RPN student.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector check (obtained within previous six months)
  • Up to date immunizations for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, rubella, and hepatitis
  • Negative tuberculosis test
  • Experience with Palliative Care is considered an asset
  • First Aid CPR is considered an asset
  • Vehicle is required
