Job summary

VON Canada is seeking a Personal Support Worker to provide person-centred home and community care across Kingston, Ontario. You will support daily living, assist with personal care, meals, and mobility, and help develop care plans while visiting clients in their homes.

Travel between client sites is required. Candidates may be nursing students or certified PSWs; valid First Aid/CPR and a valid driver’s license with vehicle are preferred. Competitive salary, benefits, and pension are offered.

Qualifications

• Certification as PSW or DSW is required.
• Students in RN/RPN or BScN programs may apply.
• Must have First Aid/CPR certification where required.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to clients in their homes.
• Help develop the client's care plan.
• Assist with personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing).
• Support mobility and safe transfers.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals, perform light housekeeping.
• Offer respite care to families and monitor home safety.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams and other providers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

About the role:

As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you'll use your training to provide person-centred care, support daily living, and help clients stay comfortable and independent in their own homes. What you'll do:

What we are looking for:

• Personal Support Worker or Developmental Services Worker certification


• Nursing students who have completed first year of RPN or BScN or internationally educated nurses are eligible to apply


• Must have a current Standard First Aid Certificate or CPR level C Certificate, if applicable to the work being performed


• Must enjoy driving, have a personal vehicle and possess both a current driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance


• A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check


• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
