Job summary

VON Canada is seeking a Personal Support Worker to provide person-centred in-home care across Kingston. You will travel between clients' homes, develop care plans, assist with daily living, mobility, meals, and light housekeeping, and collaborate with health teams to support independence.

The role offers a defined benefit pension, benefits, and professional development. A current PSW/DSW certification, valid driver’s license, and CPR/First Aid are required.

Qualifications

• PSW or DSW certification required.
• Nursing students who have completed first year of RPN or BScN or internationally educated nurses are eligible.
• Current Standard First Aid or CPR Level C certificate, if applicable.
• Must have a valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and proof of vehicle insurance.
• Satisfactory Criminal Records Check (original copy).
• Ability to wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to clients in their own homes.
• Help develop the client's care plan.
• Assist with personal care, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Aid with mobility and transfers to ensure safety and comfort.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and perform light housekeeping.
• Offer respite care to families to give them a break.
• Monitor and maintain a safe home environment.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• Personal Support Worker or Developmental Services Worker certification
• Nursing students who have completed first year of RPN or BScN or internationally educated nurses are eligible to apply
• Must have a current Standard First Aid Certificate or CPR level C Certificate, if applicable to the work being performed
• Must enjoy driving, have a personal vehicle and possess both a current driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance
• A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
