Job summary

VON Canada is seeking a Personal Support Worker to join our Adult Day Program team in Ontario. In this temporary full-time role, you will provide person-centred home care, support daily living, and help clients stay independent and comfortable in their homes as you move between clients.

You will develop care plans, assist with personal care, mobility, meals, light housekeeping, and offer respite to families while collaborating with healthcare teams.

Qualifications

• PSW certification is required.
• First Aid/CPR Level C certificate is required, if applicable to the work.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license with vehicle access.
• Criminal Records Check that is satisfactory.
• Ability to wear PPE as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to clients in their homes as part of a team.
• Help develop and follow the client care plan.
• Assist with bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Support mobility and transfers to ensure safety.
• Plan meals and perform light housekeeping tasks.
• Offer respite care to families and coordinate with healthcare teams.
• Monitor home safety and perform other duties as assigned.

About the role:

As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you'll use your training to provide person-centred care, support daily living, and help clients stay comfortable and independent in their own homes. You'll travel between clients' homes throughout the day, making every visit matter. Bring your skills to where they're needed most!

What you'll do:

• Provide care to clients in the comfort of their own homes

• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and perform light housekeeping duties
• Offer respite care to families, allowing them a much-needed break

What we are looking for:

• Personal Support Worker or Developmental Services Worker certification
• Nursing students who have completed first year of RPN or BScN or internationally educated nurses are eligible to apply
• Must have a current Standard First Aid Certificate or CPR level C Certificate, if applicable to the work being performed
• Must enjoy driving, have a personal vehicle and possess both a current driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance
• A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
