Job summary

VON Canada is seeking a Personal Support Worker to provide in-home, person-centered care across clients' homes in the Kingston area. You will help with daily living, mobility, meals, and light housekeeping, while coordinating with health teams to keep clients comfortable and independent. Applicants must hold PSW/DSW certification.

Nursing students in year 1 of RPN/BScN can apply. A valid driver's license and CPR/First Aid are required.

Qualifications

• Current PSW or DSW certification is required.
• Nursing students who have completed first year of RPN or BScN are eligible to apply.
• Must have a current Standard First Aid Certificate or CPR Level C.
• Must enjoy driving, have a personal vehicle and a valid driver's license with proof of insurance.
• A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required.
• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home care to clients in their own homes.
• Assist with daily living activities and personal care.
• Support with mobility and transfers to ensure safety and comfort.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and perform light housekeeping.
• Offer respite care to families.
• Monitor home safety and collaborate with healthcare teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About the role:

As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you'll use your training to provide person-centred care, support daily living, and help clients stay comfortable and independent in their own homes. What you'll do:

  What we are looking for:

  • Personal Support Worker or Developmental Services Worker certification
  • Nursing students who have completed first year of RPN or BScN or internationally educated nurses are eligible to apply
  • Must have a current Standard First Aid Certificate or CPR level C Certificate, if applicable to the work being performed
  • Must enjoy driving, have a personal vehicle and possess both a current driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance
  • A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
