Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
• Reliable transportation required.

• Ability to assist with transferring, lifting and personal care.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Physical Demands Self Analysis required upon hire.

Responsibilities

The opportunity

Known internally as Support Service Attendant, we have1 new opportunity for a Part-Time Personal Support Workerin ourDurham region - Whitby, ON.

• Starting wage: $23.84 per hour. This compensation is inclusive of a $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The wage enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave.
• Hours: 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Assist service users/clients in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:
• Personal care
• Lifts and Transfers
• Rising/retiring
• Bowel and bladder procedures
• Meal preparation and feeding
• Range of motion exercises
• Other light housekeeping duties
• Perform duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.

Qualifications and experience

• Reliable transportation required
• High School graduate or equivalent
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain
• Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities, older adults, or as an informal caregiver considered an asset but not required
• Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care
  duties
• Physical Demands Self Analysis Required upon hire
• Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
