Job summary

March of Dimes Canada is seeking two Part-Time Personal Support Workers (Support Service Attendants) in the South region – St. Catharines, ON.

You will assist clients at home with non-medical daily living activities per individual service plans and MODC policies. Starting wage is $23.11 per hour, including a $3.00 per hour Ontario government enhancement for hours spent directly supporting clients (excluding training and paid leave).

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Experience with individuals with disabilities or as a caregiver is an asset.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients in daily living in their homes per service plans.
  • Perform lifts, transfers, and personal care respectfully.
  • Ensure privacy and safety in all duties.
  • Work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays across Niagara locations.

Whether their disability is physical, the result of brain injury, or aging, our more than 2,000 team members assist clients in their homes and across communities, to live as independently as possible.

The opportunity:

Known internally as Support Service Attendant, we have 2 new opportunities for Part-Time Personal Support Workersin our South region - St. Catharines, ON.

  • Schedule: Includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Starting wage: $23.11per hour. This compensation is inclusive of a $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The wage enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave.
  • Hours: Various hours per week.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist service users/clients in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:
    • Personal care
    • Lifts and Transfers
    • Rising/retiring
    • Bowel and bladder procedures
    • Meal preparation and feeding
    • Range of motion exercises
    • Other light housekeeping duties
  • Perform duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.
  • The Support Services Attendants will be required to work multiple shifts (i.e. workdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays) that vary between locations through the Niagara Region.
Qualifications and experience:
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain
  • Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities, older adults, or as an informal caregiver considered an asset but not required
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care
    duties

  • Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
