Job summary

March of Dimes Canada is seeking a Part-time Homemaking Services Worker in the Northeast region, based in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. The role focuses on non-medical daily living activities and companionship to clients in their homes.

Our Community Support Services (CSS) team provides essential services that enable our clients to thrive. Whether their disability is physical, the result of brain injury, or aging, our more than 2,000 team members assist clients in their homes and across communities, to live as independently as possible.

The opportunity:

We are currently looking to fill1 new opportunity for a Part-time Homemaking Services Workerin ourNortheastregion - Sault Ste. Marie, ON.

  • Flexible schedule: Mornings, afternoons, evenings, every other weekend
  • Starting wage: $18.67 per hour.
  • Hours: Up to 30 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living: light housekeeping (dusting, sweep, mop, vacuum, make bed, dishes, etc.) and laundry activities (sort, wash, dry, and fold), and grocery shopping, and occasional meal preparation on a scheduled basis according to the consumer’s service agreement and March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures.
  • Provide service in a friendly, courteous, professional and safe manner, which respects the consumer’s dignity and right to privacy, while ensuring consumer and staff safety.
  • Manage and respond to change in a positive manner.
  • Work safe according to WHMIS, Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) laws, regulations, MODC policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Reliable vehicle with current car insurance to complete home to home community visits.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
  • Experience working with older adults, adults with age-related health conditions, and/or disabilities.
  • Valid CPIC-vulnerable person check (obtained less than 6 months from date of application).
  • Knowledge and abilities in housekeeping duties
  • Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Physical Demands Self Analysis required upon hire
