An innovative healthcare provider seeks a compassionate Family Peer Support Worker to join their multi-disciplinary team. Addictions and Mental Health Access 24/7 offers a centralized and integrated intake using a “front door” location at Edmonton Community Health Hub North. Reporting to the Care Manager and under the direction of the Program Manager for Access 24/7, the Family Peer Support Worker functions in the context of a multi-disciplinary team. The Family Peer Support Worker provides intervention and supports that are complementary to the work of addiction and mental health providers by providing emotional and social support to others who share a common experience. Through their own lived experience supporting a loved one with an addiction and/or mental health concern, the Family Peer Support Worker can authentically inspire hope and demonstrate the possibility of recovery. The Family Peer Support Worker will provide services within their scope of practice, liaise, and collaborate with other team members to improve outcomes for individuals and their families. The Family Peer Support Worker will bring families, friends, and systems together to enhance service provisions and find solutions where challenges may exist. Access 24/7 will be a single point of contact for AHS and Covenant addiction and mental health services. The range of services includes assessment, crisis intervention, navigation assistance, and outreach services to residents of Edmonton and suburban areas. Access 24/7 will conduct triage, screening, and assessment to match individuals’ needs to appropriate services and programs. The services offered are designed to be least intrusive and most appropriate, whether within clinics, community settings, or at the client’s home, based on identified needs.
As a Peer Support Worker, you will provide interventions and supports that are complementary to the work of a multi-disciplinary outreach team. The team collaborates to provide treatment, rehabilitation, and support services for clients navigating life-impacting experiences. Utilizing your own lived experience(s) of recovery and resilience, you can genuinely inspire hope by sharing your story, mentoring, advocating for client needs, and supporting an integrated, recovery-oriented healthcare and treatment experience.

Lived experience supporting a loved one who has an addiction and/or mental health concern. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. By applying on this posting, you agree to and will become an employee of Recovery Alberta.
Past experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Some formal education in a subject area involving addictions and mental health. Experience with group facilitation is an asset.
