Description

L'Arche welcomes Assistants to live, work, and learn together with men and women with intellectual disabilities in our communities. L'Arche strives to shape a more human and just society by offering people of different abilities a life changing experience of companionship, community, and belonging.

We are looking for an Awake Overnight Community Support Worker with the following schedule:

Two nights a week, Saturday, 10pm to 8am, and Sunday, 10pm to 9am (21 hours)

Responsibilities:

Support Individuals with disabilities during the night. Tasks include:

  • Change protective underwear, wet clothes and bedding.
  • Assist individuals in the washroom.
  • Attend to medical needs and monitor concerns
  • Perform housekeeping duties. These include:
    • Washing floors
    • Cleaning washrooms
    • Doing laundry
    • Watering plants
    • Other household chores

Support Individual with disabilities in the morning. Tasks include:

  • Medication administration
  • Personal care
  • Breakfast

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certificate/Diploma in Disability Studies, or Community Support Worker, or equivalent experience
  • Emergency First Aid and Adult CPR

  • Abuse Prevention and Repose Protocol

  • Positive and Restrictive Procedures
