In 1961 Leonard Cheshire set up Ireland’s first Cheshire service in Shillelagh, Co. Wicklow, supported by volunteers, and since then further services have developed around the country. Initially, these services were supported by local voluntary management committees who oversaw the running of the services and who fundraised locally. Over time, the health and social care environment in Ireland changed, leading to an increased requirement for governance and oversight. To reflect this, Cheshire Ireland has developed further.

You will support individuals with all aspects of their daily lives according to their personal plans, helping them live their best lives. Who We Are Looking For

• Hold or be in the process of obtaining a QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or a QQI Level 6 in Social Care, or a Nursing qualification
• Experience supporting people with disabilities
• Hold or be working towards a Full Manual Driving License and willing to drive for work
• Desire for personal and professional development
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
• Good verbal and written English
• Computer literacy; experience with online care management systems is an advantage
• Personal integrity and trustworthiness
• Willingness to embrace change and foster a culture of continuous learning
• Commitment to rights-based, person-centred services

Candidates without qualifications but with relevant experience may be considered if willing to undertake and complete QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support within two years of starting.
