Position Summary:

Reintegration Services plays a crucial role within the Community Safety and Well-being (CSWB) division of enCompass, assisting individuals with their willingness to participate in the desistance of criminal behaviour in the Edmonton Community. This position involves working directly with Provincial Correctional Facilities to develop appropriate case management strategies for each individual. The Release Support Worker provides community-based targeted interventions to reduce client contact with the justice system and to foster client involvement with interventions that will address their needs, such as education, employment training, financial support, treatment, housing and pro social supports.

Responsibilities:

Ongoing case management with the clients to foster coordinated and timely services that meet the client’s basic needs

Ongoing response along with consultation and collaboration with multiple professionals and agencies within the community to develop effective safety and support systems for clients as well as the public

Work with clients who are incarcerated to implement reintegration plans to ensure smooth transition back into the community

Ensure ongoing follow up for clients by connecting with various agencies to ensure completion of tasks

Refer and assist client with completion of application processes and referrals when necessary, including but not limited to detox facilities, addictions recovery treatment programs, employment/educational programs and mental health programs

Maintain accurate and up to date data collection, data entry and completing of any program assessments and surveys as directed

Create and maintain a strong and professional working relationship with probation officers, social workers, correctional services workers and other professionals

Communicate pertinent information to supervisor and other staff as necessary

Comply with enCompass Policies and Procedures

Qualifications / Skills:

Degree or Diploma in Human Services or related field

Minimum of 3 years relevant experience working with complex, high risk populations.

Strong understanding and knowledge of community resources, knowledge of issues faced by high-risk individuals who have experienced significant trauma with high criminogenic factors and are now experiencing homelessness, poverty, and both mental health conditions and substance use

Strong leadership, teamwork and effective interpersonal and communication skills

Prior experience completing professional documentation

Experience working with and understanding the unique challenges that Indigenous and multicultural individuals and families face, particularly those with significant criminal histories

Effective risk management, advocacy in systems and group facilitation

Role and scope navigation, inclusion and equity and digital literacy

Conditions of Employment:

Criminal Record Check, Enhanced Security Clearance and Children Intervention Check; a criminal record will not disqualify you from employment with us; we evaluate each application individually.

Standard First Aid and CPR, Suicide Intervention and Crisis Intervention and De-escalation Training.

Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license with a safe, operating vehicle, clean drivers abstract, and must have 2 million liability insurance

The hours of work are 40-hours a week, Monday to Friday, with some evening and weekend availability to assist with emergency client situations

The offices will be located at Transition Place Building and/or the Edmonton Remand Centre
