Job summary

Dexterra Group in Canada is seeking a Pastry Chef for remote camp locations in Nunavik/Nunavut. You will oversee large-scale pastry production, ensure quality and safety, and work under pressure on long shifts with rotation schedules.

The role reports to Production Chef and Project Supervisor; must have diploma in hospitality or culinary arts and at least 5 years pastry experience in high-volume operations; bilingual in French and English is an asset; travel to departure points may be required.

  • Perform any other related duties as required by operational needs.

WHAT IS THE JOB?

Location: Nunavik, Nunavut
Language: French and English
Rotation: 14/14 or 21/21 (Fly-in/Fly-out)
Schedule: 11 to 12-hour shifts
Compensation: Competitive pay, with overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours per week.
Departure Points: Multiple departure airports available (Montreal, Québec City, Mirabel).

Based in remote camp locations, we are currently seeking a Pastry Chef to join our team and start immediately.

Reporting to the Production Chef and Project Supervisor, the Pastry Chef is responsible for overseeing and executing large-scale production of pastries and baked goods. The successful candidate must ensure that all required menu items are properly prepared, production requirements are met, production tracking is maintained accurately, and product quality consistently meets established standards.

The Pastry Chef must be able to work effectively under pressure, manage time efficiently, demonstrate leadership, and maintain a positive attitude at all times.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or an equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pastry production and high-volume food service operations;
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset;
  • Previous experience working in a remote camp environment within the natural resources and/or construction sectors is considered an asset.
