Job summary

Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) in Ottawa is seeking a Patient Service Clerk to support patient registration, scheduling, and clerical duties in Epic environments. You will create patient profiles, verify demographics, manage referrals, and assist with clinic operations while ensuring privacy and courteous service.

Qualifications

• Secondary School Graduation Diploma (Essential)
• Approximately six months of related experience (Essential)
• Experience in a clinical environment with Epic Ambulatory (Preferred)
• Experience in patient registration using Cadence (Epic) (Preferred)
• Experience in creating, editing, scanning and scheduling referrals (Preferred)
• Experience in managing order work queues (Preferred)
• Experience in patient check outs including follow ups and recall management (Preferred)
• Experience using inbasket communication in Epic (Preferred)
• Knowledge of Epic, Sunrise, Outlook (Essential)

Responsibilities

• Patient Registration: Create new patient profiles in EPIC
• Patient registration in Cadence (Epic Hyperspace) per registration standards
• Referral Management: Input electronic referrals and update per triage
• Scan referrals into Epic with proper naming conventions
• Patient Scheduling: Schedule new patients and recalls
• Greet patient and parent(s) and verify demographics
• Collect self-pay payment and complete Fee For Service form
• Monitor patient lists and recall pages to manage waitlists
• Support clinic operations and maintain stock of supplies
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality per CHEO policies
• Conduct orientation for volunteers and clerical staff
• Attend staff meetings and collaborate with clinical teams
