Job summary

LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking a Lab Patient Technician for temporary part-time coverage. You will greet patients, collect specimens, perform phlebotomies and ECG tracings, and prepare samples for transport.

The role supports patient care and requires strong communication with diverse clients. Qualifications include completion of a Laboratory Assistant program (preferred), phlebotomy and ECG experience (assets), excellent communication, and solid computer

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
• Strong customer/patient service and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and gather required information, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure test protocol compliance.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
• Complete special test collections and related documentation (medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, clinical trials).
• Maintain client relationships, respond to inquiries, and follow up on requests.
• Enter patient demographics and requisition information into systems accurately.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
