Job summary

LifeLabs in Toronto, ON is seeking a Lab Patient Technician for a temporary part-time on-site role. You will greet patients, collect samples, perform phlebotomies and ECG tracings, and handle special test collections while documenting details and maintaining patient privacy.

The position requires flexibility, weekend work as needed, and the ability to support multiple PSCs in the region. Great for someone with phlebotomy training and strong patient service skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent is preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
• Strong customer/patient service with empathy and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, collect information, and explain the specimen collection process.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and ECG tracings.
• Collect special tests (drug screens, paternity tests, clinical trials) and document results.
• Maintain client relationships, respond to inquiries, and follow up on requests.
• Enter patient demographics and requisition information into systems.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
