Job summary

Peterbilt Pacific is seeking a Parts Technician to join our team in Nanaimo, BC. You will handle ordering, warehousing, inventory control and sales of parts, while providing excellent customer service to both retail and internal clients.

Responsibilities include receiving and sorting parts, managing stock records, assisting with pricing and promotions, and supporting the Parts Manager. A strong knowledge of truck parts and materials is essential.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years heavy duty parts department experience.
  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree required.
  • Red Seal parts certification is an asset.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong personal organizational skills related to workload and priorities.
  • Effective problem solving and negotiating skills.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to promote service sales and expand customer base.
  • Solid understanding of the truck industry.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and sort incoming parts and supplies.
  • Telephone sales support.
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in a warehouse, tool room, supply room or other areas.
  • Process incoming requisitions and issue or distribute parts and supplies for internal usage.
  • Maintain records of orders and the amount, kind and location of parts and supplies on hand using a manual or computerized inventory system.
  • Prepare requisition orders to replenish parts and supplies.
  • Sell spare and replacement parts for motor vehicles, machinery and equipment in a retail setting.
  • Post receipts, stock adjustments, request for credits and PR’s into computer.
  • Advise retail customers or internal users on appropriateness of parts, supplies or materials requested.
  • Fill customer orders from stock. Prepare sales slips or sales contracts.
  • Keep track of backorders and follow up with vendors and customers.
  • Endeavor to increase parts sales and customer satisfaction through suggestive selling, use of coupon discounts and monthly flyer specials.
  • Ensure that product and service quality exceeds expectations. Aids in the merchandising of parts.
  • Must participate in all training programs made available through Peterbilt or outside vendors.
  • Assist Parts Manager as needed.
  • Occasional moderate lifting of up to 100 lbs is required.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Compensation Rate
  • $23.71 - $43.11 per hour
