Velocity Truck Centres Canada in Duncan, BC is seeking a Heavy-Duty Parts Technician to identify, locate and supply parts for repairs and maintenance. You will support service operations with precise inventory management and customer assistance.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in parts tech, strong communication, and knowledge of heavy‑duty truck components. A valid Class 5 license is required; journeyperson ticket is preferred. This full-time role offers competitive wages and solid benefits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a parts technician.
  • Strong interpersonal / communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Valid class 5 License with clean abstract.
  • Experience in heavy-duty truck parts industry required.
  • Shipper/receiver experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts and components with ability to cross-reference part numbers.
  • Proficiency in computer systems used for parts ordering, inventory management and sales.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Dealership or equivalent experience is an asset.
  • Customer service-oriented attitude with effective communication.
  • Ability to work well in a team and learn new procedures.
  • Journeyperson Parts Technician ticket is preferred.

  • Maintain the retail display and coordinate with service advisors and technicians.
  • Maintain accurate records of parts transactions and inventory levels.
  • Bill out order requests and follow inventory/merchandising processes.
  • Implement workflow procedures and continuous improvement for the department.
  • Use computers to process orders, post receipts, and manage stock adjustments.

Monday to Friday (8:00am – 5:00pm) .

(Mon to Fri - 7am to 6 pm , Sat 8am to 4pm)

*40 hour work week - shift times varies

Position Overview:

As a Heavy-Duty Parts Technician, your primary responsibility is to support the service department by accurately identifying, locating, and supplying parts for vehicle repairs and maintenance. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of heavy-duty truck parts and inventory management processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Accurately identify and locate parts for repairs and maintenance, placing orders as needed in person, by telephone or other means.
  • Receive and verify incoming parts shipments, maintaining organized inventory storage.
  • Assist customers with parts inquiries, providing information on availability, pricing, and ordering processes in person and on the phone.
  • Process parts sales transactions accurately, including invoicing and payment collection.
  • Develop a strong understanding of heavy-duty truck components to effectively identify parts.
  • Assist with maintaining the retail display.
  • Coordinate closely with service advisors, technicians, and other dealership personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of parts transactions and inventory levels, tracking usage trends and informing purchasing decisions.
  • Bill out order requests.
  • Follow the inventory and merchandising processes while maintaining the retail display.
  • Implement workflow procedures and continuous improvement initiatives for the department.
  • Computer use to process parts and supplies, maintain records, prepare orders, post receipts, sales contracts, stock adjustments and credit requests.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a parts technician.
  • Strong interpersonal / communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Valid class 5 License with clean abstract.
  • Previous experience in a related role within the heavy-duty truck industry is required.
  • Some shipper/receiver experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts and components, with the ability to accurately identify and cross-reference part numbers.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software applications used for parts ordering, inventory management, and sales transactions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and track inventory levels effectively.
  • Dealership or equivalent experience is an asset.
  • Customer service-oriented attitude, with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing inventory needs, industry developments, and dealership procedures.
  • Journeyperson Parts Technician ticket is preferred.
