Job summary

Red Deer Polytechnic invites applications for part-time Instructor(s) in the Social Work program within the School of Health and Wellness. The position emphasizes learner-centered teaching, anti-oppressive practice, and engagement with diverse communities and worldviews across Canadian society.

Instructors will deliver courses aligned with established curricula, support students from varied backgrounds, assess learning, and collaborate on curriculum renewal.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work.
• Registered Social Worker (or eligible for registration in Alberta).
• Five years’ social work practice experience.
• Experienced in anti-oppressive practice and grounded in critical social work theories
• Knowledge of Indigenous perspectives

Responsibilities

• Delivering courses congruent with established course curricula and program outcomes.
• Supporting the success of students with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds and learning styles.
• Assessing student learning in ways that both facilitate learning and ensure achievement against appropriate academic standards.
• Working collegially within department, School, or Polytechnic committees and project teams.
• Contributing to course and program curriculum development and renewal.
• Engaging in scholarly activity within the domains of Ernest Boyer’s model: scholarship of discovery, application, integration, and teaching.
