Job summary

Red Deer Polytechnic's School of Health & Wellness is hiring for Part Time Practical Nurse Instructors for the upcoming academic year. Instructors teach lectures, labs, or clinical sections, with a mix of on campus and online delivery and travel to rural sites as needed.

Applicants must hold LPN registration (or RN), current BLS, immunization, and a clean Criminal Record Check, plus a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Current registration as an LPN with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) or a Registered Nurse with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
• Current Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider or Recertification Certificate, or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Respiratory Fit Testing or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Valid Driver’s License
• A satisfactory Criminal Record Check in accordance with the Polytechnic’s Criminal Record Check policy
• Current Immunization as per RDP requirements

Responsibilities

• Teaching students in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings with flexibility for both face-to-face and online course delivery
• Creating a stimulating, effective, and learner-centered environment which includes preparing, reviewing and/or updating course material
• Marking, grading, and evaluation of student work
• Travel to rural sites for labs and clinical instruction
• Providing ongoing feedback, guidance, and assistance to students
• Actively contributing and participating in program planning, curriculum review, project work, and scholarly activity
• Participating in School and Polytechnic-wide initiatives and/or committees
• Upholding the Professional Responsibilities of Faculty atRDP which are described within the Faculty Performance Policy
• Demonstrating and promotingRDP organizational values and followingRDP policies and practices.

Red Deer Polytechnic’s School of Health & Wellness is hiring for Part Time Practical Nurse Instructors for the upcoming academic year! As the healthcare sector continues to grow in central Alberta, there is a high demand for skilled nursing professionals. There are many ways to join RDP as an Instructor and have a positive impact on students by teaching lectures, labs, or clinical sections.

This role is ideal for those looking to teach for a short period of time, build relationships with students and really experience what it feels like to be a nurse educator at RDP.

Our Part-Time Instructors have a variety of start and end dates throughout the academic year.

While most courses will be offered at Red Deer Polytechnic main campus or online, instructors are also expected to travel to deliver courses at other locations as needed. These locations may include Camrose, Drumheller, Ponoka, Rocky Mountain House, Stettler, and Three Hills.

Instructors uphold the professional responsibilities of faculty and demonstrateRDP organizational values by following related policies and practices. They are supported by the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Scholarship and are provided with a comprehensive onboarding experience to help ensure their success.

Required Qualifications

• Current registration as anLPN with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) or a Registered Nurse with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)

Preferred Qualifications

• RN with a BScN degree
• LPN diploma with a health care related degree
• LPN diploma with significant progress in a health care related degree
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care experience, including knowledge of Canadian healthcare standards and practices.
• Experience within Alberta healthcare systems is considered an asset.

Benefits and Compensation Information

Part-time Instructors:

• Receive an additional 14% of their gross salary in lieu of benefits and vacation pay.
• Part-time instructors are not eligible for comprehensive health and dental benefits packages.
• Eligible for individual professional development funding, additional free professional development opportunities offered through the institution.

Position End Date

June 30, 2027

Salary

Commensurate with education and experience.
