Red Deer Polytechnic invites applications for Sessional(Full-Time/Term-Certain) Instructors in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program. The program partners with the University of Alberta and may require travel to clinical sites across Central Alberta.

This role offers a pathway into nursing education with supportive onboarding and opportunities for professional development. Sessions are full-time/term-certain contracts with benefits through the Faculty Association.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (required).
• Registered Nurse with current CRNA registration in Alberta.
• Current Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS provider or willingness to obtain on hire.
• Current Immunization Program—Faculty RDPrequirements.
• Criminal Record Check compliant with Polytechnic policy.

Responsibilities

• Teach students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings with flexible delivery.
• Prepare and update course materials for delivery.
• Marking, grading, and evaluation of student work.
• Travel to urban and rural sites for clinical instruction.
• Provide ongoing feedback and guidance to students.
• Participate in program planning, curriculum development, and scholarly activity.

Position Summary

TheSchoolofHealthandWellnessatRedDeerPolytechnic(RDP)iscurrently inviting applicationsforSessional(Full-Time/Term-Certain)InstructorsintheBachelor of ScienceinNursing(BScN)program.

The BScN program is a four-year collaborative degree with the University of Alberta, approved by the College of Registered Nurses ofAlberta. The BScN program provides exceptional opportunities to work closely with students, faculty, and staff in an innovative, supportive environment that promotes creativity, scholarship, and commitment to student success.

All four years of the degree program are taught by RDP faculty. Faculty may be assigned instructional workload that requires travel to urban sites (Red Deer Regional Hospital,long-term care sites, etc.) and rural locations in Central Alberta (Sundre, Olds, Innisfail, Stettler, etc.), in addition to teaching on the RDP campus. Sessional(Fulltime/Term-Certain):

• Our Sessional Instructors are hired on full-time, term certain contracts.

Position Responsibilities

UnderthedirectionoftheAssociate DeanofBScN,thesuccessful candidatewillhave thefollowingkeyresponsibilities:

• Teaching students in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings with flexibility for both face-to-face and online course delivery.
• Creating a stimulating, effective, and learner-centered environment which includes preparing, reviewing and/or updating course material
• Marking,grading,andevaluationofstudentwork
• Traveltourbanandruralsitesforclinicalinstruction
• Providingongoingfeedback, guidance,andassistance tostudents
• Actively contributing and participating in program planning, curriculum development & review, project work, and scholarly activity
• ParticipatinginSchoolandPolytechnic-wideinitiativesand/orcommittees
• Upholding the Professional Responsibilities of Faculty at RDP which are described within the Faculty Performance Policy
• Demonstrating and promoting RDP organizational values and following RDP policies and practices.

Instructors will uphold professional responsibilities and demonstrate RDP organizational values by adhering to related policies and practices. They will be supported through comprehensive onboarding experience, additional training from the Centre for Teaching& Learning, and mentorship through the Nursing Faculty Navigator program, designed tohelp transition from clinicians to educators.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing
• Registered Nurse with current registration with the College of Registered Nursesof Alberta (CRNA)
• Current Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider or Recertification Certificate, or willingness to obtain upon hire.

• A satisfactory Criminal Record Check in accordance with the Polytechnic’s Criminal Record Check policy.

Benefits and Compensation Information

The FacultyAssociation at Red Deer Polytechnic (FARDP) and the related Collective Agreement provides information on compensation for Instructors at Red Deer Polytechnic.

Sessional (Fulltime/Term Certain) Instructors:

• Receive 8%oftheirgrosssalaryinlieuofvacation.
