Job summary

AgeCare McKenzie Towne in Calgary seeks a Health Care Aide (HCA) to join its care team on a part-time basis. Under supervision of a Staff Nurse, you will deliver safe, respectful resident care and support daily activities to meet individual needs.

You will perform bathing, transfers, feeding, routine treatments, and assist residents with mobility and social activities, following care plans and safety protocols. English fluency and PCA/HCA certification are required.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in English, both oral and written.
• One year of experience in continuing care or related environment is preferred.
• Completion of a recognized PCA/HCA certificate or Equivalent Education Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Bath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote personal comfort and well-being.
• Transfer/assist with resident transfers in and out of bed, to and from wheelchair, commode, or toilet, using appropriate Engineering Controls and PPE.
• Feed/assist with feeding residents during meals and nourishment/snack times, refer to care plan for appropriate diet to each resident.
• Provide routine treatments (e.g. skin creams, bowel protocols) and care procedures to residents, under the direction of the Staff Nurse.
• Assist residents to travel about the facility and to and from the Dining Room for meals and social/therapy activities.
