Peace River High School in Peace River, Alberta, is seeking a Part-Time Educational Assistant (0.90 FTE) to begin immediately and continue until June 29, 2027. The successful candidate will assist with 1-1, small group and classroom support for grades 9-12.

The role requires an Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent, and experience/training with students in school settings. The position is unionized under CUPE Local 4839.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

The Peace River School Division is seeking applications for a Part-Time (0.90 f.t.e.) Educational Assistant atPeace River High School . This position will commence on immediately and continue until June 29, 2027. The successful candidate will be working with coded students in a 1-1, small group and classroom support for grades 9-12.

Peace River High School is located in the town of Peace River, serving approximately 270 students in grades 9-12.

Peace River is a town in northwest Alberta. It is along the banks of the Peace River at its confluence with the Smoky River, the Heart River and Pat's Creek. It is approximately 486 kilometres northwest of Edmonton and 198 kilometres northeast of Grande Prairie on Highway 2. For more information on the town and what it has to offer, click here .

Qualifications:

• Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent.
• Experience and/or training working with student in school setting.
• Ability to work with children with varied ages, skills level, needs and abilities

Skills:

• Willingness to be part of a learning team, take direction and follow programs without direct supervision.
• Willingness to attend training and professional development opportunities on individual learning and complex learning needs.
• Ability to be flexible to the changing classroom environment and individual child needs
• Ability to manage and organize programming and keep records.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers.

Rate of Pay:

$23.27 to $28.86 per hour(dependent on experience and education in accordance with the collective agreement between the CUPE Local 4839 and the Peace River School Division).
