Job summary

The Library of Parliament in Ottawa is seeking a Research Technician / Technician, Information Service to deliver non-partisan, confidential reference and information services to parliamentarians, authorized clients, and the public in both official languages.

Responsibilities include conducting reference interviews, retrieving information from a range of resources, and teaching clients how to use parliamentary publications and Library services, while coordinating with Library colleagues to

• Experience handling and providing responses to client enquiries in a timely manner.
• Education aligns with library/information services as described.

Responsibilities

• Conduct reference interviews in person, by phone, and virtually to define client needs.
• Search and retrieve information using Library resources to fulfill requests.
• Provide instruction on using parliamentary publications and Library services.
• Collaborate with colleagues across Library branches and Information Service to ensure service levels.
