Job summary

FleishmanHillard Canada is seeking a Parliamentary Research Intern to support Public Affairs with research, parliamentary monitoring, and stakeholder engagement. The role offers hybrid or remote work depending on location, with a Toronto presence three days per week and Ottawa fully remote.

The six-month contract runs Monday–Friday, starting in October 2026, and includes a paid weekly stipend and paid time off.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in political science, communications, journalism, public relations, or equivalent experience.
  • Superior written, oral and interpersonal skills with an acute attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian government structure, current policy issues, and political dynamics.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, critical thinking and the capacity to simplify complex subjects.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with parliamentary tools/databases (Hansard, Legis Info).
  • Excellent multitasking, time management and social media understanding.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor parliamentary activity and legislative developments relevant to FH clients.
  • Research government positions and policy developments and scan for emerging issues.
  • Synthesize research into concise, actionable briefing notes and reports.
  • Develop written materials for government outreach, stakeholder engagement, and media.
  • Other duties as required.
