Job summary

University of Victoria's Campus Security Services is seeking a Parking Ambassador to enforce the University's Traffic and Parking Regulations, patrol parking areas, issue citations, and assist the campus community with professionalism.

This role requires Grade 12 or equivalent, bylaw or parking enforcement experience, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to work flexible shifts in all weather. A driver abstract and security clearance are required.

Campus Security Services is a department within the Vice President Finance and Operations portfolio that provides security, personal safety, emergency planning, parking and motor pool services to the campus community at the University of Victoria. In providing these services Campus Security contributes to creating a safe, secure and welcoming campus for all and to the overall mission of the University by providing exceptional customer service in all aspects of the operation. These services of a critical nature are provided 24/7/365.

Campus Security Services serves a diverse client base including students, employees and visitors. The department's 46 employees work together as a team to ensure a high standard of customer service delivery, as well as the effective, efficient and safe adherence to university policies. Together, we support UVic's vision to be a university of choice for outstanding students, faculty, and staff from Canada and around the world and to enhance UVic's reputation among the best universities in Canada and the world. The University has a population that consists of almost 5000 employees as well as over 22,000 students and over 150 buildings on 163 hectares and 20 parking lots containing over 4200 stalls.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Parking & Commuter Services, the Parking Ambassador is directly responsible for enforcing the University's Traffic and Parking Regulations in a fair and impartial manner. The Parking Ambassador is responsible for patrolling University parking areas to ensure compliance, issuing parking citations, and liaising with clients to explain parking regulations and policies.

Experience

This position requires a level of experience equivalent to 2 years of experience working within a comparable environment.
