Job summary

GardaWorld is seeking an Operations Supervisor in Calgary, AB to lead unionized staff, ensure compliance with policies, and drive safety and efficiency in daily armored transport and related operations. The role emphasizes collaboration with supervisors and adherence to government regulations.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience in unionized personnel management, strong leadership and communication skills, and a valid firearms license.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in personnel management in a unionized environment.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License with 6 or less demerits.
• Possession of a valid PAL (Firearms License).
• Very good leadership, negotiation, and judgment skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and manage the work of unionized employees.
• Ensure staff comply with policies, procedures, safety rules, collective agreements and regulations.
• Act as a resource person for all employees in the assigned territory.
• Collaborate with other supervisors to establish and implement policies and objectives.
• Promote safe work practices by conducting safety audits and meetings; meet staff individually.

What you will be doing:

• Plan, organize and manage the work of unionized employees;
• Ensure that staff members comply with policies, administrative procedures, safety rules, collective agreements and government regulations;
• Act as a resource person for all employees in the assigned territory;
• Collaborate with other supervisors and staff to establish and implement policies, procedures and objectives;
• Promote safe work practices, by conducting safety audits, participating in company safety meetings, and meeting one-on-one with staff members;
• Monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budgets;
• Conduct investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints;
• Collaborate with internal or external stakeholders to determine the causes of accidents that occur during transport and improve safety procedures;
• Fill-in on Armored and/or ATM routes when needed
• Participate in the disciplinary process or the settlement of grievances;
• All other related tasks.

What we are looking for:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in personnel management in a unionized environment;
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook;
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License with 6 or less demerits
• Possession of a valid Non-Restricted and Restricted Firearms License (PAL: Possession & Acquisitions License)
• Very good leadership, negotiation, and judgment skills;
• Strong focus on teamwork and partnership;
• Sense of urgency, exceptional communication and problem-solving skills
• Critical thinking and active listening developed.
