Job summary

Ryerson in Brampton, ON is seeking a Service Center Operations Supervisor to direct the efficient operation of plant functions including production equipment, shipping, receiving, and inventory management. The role is based in our Brampton branch, Monday through Friday, 2:00pm to 10:00pm, and emphasizes leadership, safety, and quality goals.

Qualifications

  • Lead production goals and actions to meet objectives.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to direct reports.
  • Promote safe work practices and support safety goals.
  • Review unsafe conditions and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Manage plant supply inventory and advise purchasing when levels are low.
  • Communicate with departments and other locations.
  • Ensure training is completed and supervise training checklists.
  • Understand customer requirements for material and equipment and advise accordingly.
  • Support ISO 9000 quality goals and continuous improvement.

As a Service Center Operations Supervisor at Ryerson, you will be responsible for directing the efficient function of plant operations including but not limited to production equipment, shipping, receiving, receiving and inventory.

This position will work out of the Brampton, ON branch, Monday through Friday from 2:00pm to 10:00pm.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Understands production goals and implements actions necessary to meet objectives
  • Provides leadership to direct reports; coaches and counsels employees
  • Provide direction and coaching in safe work practices; supports safety goals
  • Review unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are carried out to eliminate workplace hazard
  • Facilities problem solving and team building activities
  • Participates in Performance Management Process (PMP)
  • Carries out and supports company policies, goals and objectives
  • Understands quality goals and implement actions necessary to meet goals and ISO 9000 standards
  • Review plant supply inventory and advise purchasing when levels are low
  • Ensure training is effectively carried out and oversee completion of training checklists
  • Communicates with other departments within the facility, as well as other locations
  • Understand customer requirements, participates, and advise on decisions regarding suitability of material and processing equipment
  • All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
Requirements
  • High School Diploma / GED is required; College Education preferred
  • A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years supervisory experience in the metal industry
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Prior experience and proficency in SAP is an asset

Salary: $60,000-$85,0000 annually. A starting salary higher than $60,000 annually is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
