Job summary

Ryerson Canada in Brampton, ON is seeking a Production and Logistics Coordinator to act as a key liaison between sales, operations and transport partners. You will ensure smooth material flow from receipt to delivery, release production orders, and coordinate inbound/outbound trucks to meet schedules.

Qualifications

  • Requires strong interpersonal and communication abilities to liaise between sales, operations and carriers.
  • Experience with SAP ERP/MRP systems and inventory control processes is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Receive in SAP for incoming vendor and inter-branch materials.
  • Monitor and upload Mill Test Reports as needed.
  • Release production orders to ensure timely processing and delivery.
  • Build outgoing shipments in SAP and OTM to meet schedules.
  • Coordinate customs paperwork for shipments.
  • Expedite deliveries and track orders to avoid missouts.
  • Arrange packing needs and pallets for packaging requirements.
  • Schedule and coordinate inbound/outbound trucks for cost efficiency.
  • Communicate delivery status with drivers and cross-functional teams.
  • Assist with order changes and expediting requests from sales.

As a Production and Logistics Coordinator at Ryerson, you will be responsible for being a key liaison between sales, operations and transport companies. Working closely with Production and Operation Supervisors, this role ensures a smooth flow of material movement from receipt to delivery. Duties also include coordinating all incoming and outgoing trucks, ensuring incoming material and production orders are received and released in a timely manner.

This position will be based in the Brampton, ON branch.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Receiving in SAP for incoming vendor and inter-branch materials.
  • Monitoring, requesting and uploading Mill Test Reports.
  • Release of production orders to ensure timely order processing and on time delivery.
  • Building outgoing shipments in SAP and OTM ensuring orders are shipped on time.
  • Coordinating customs paperwork for incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Monitoring and expediting upcoming deliveries ensuring missouts are captured for any late deliveries.
  • Review of schedules to identify custom packaging supplies requirements including pallet needs.
  • Coordinating trucks for outgoing shipments to ensure cost effectiveness of outbound loads.
  • Scheduling of incoming trucks to ensure smooth volumes and minimal driver wait times.
  • Regular communication with inbound and outbound drivers regarding the status of deliveries.
  • Troubleshooting and working with help desk on problematic orders and deliveries.
  • Acting as a liaison with the sales team related to expediting and order changes.
  • Ariba purchasing of office supplies, services and packaging materials including pallets.
  • Collect and enter 3PL logistic data (driver hours, kilometers and pallet returns) for incentive program.
  • Organization and filing of all receiving, production and shipping documentation.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Formal education in one or more of the following: administration, logistics, procurement, inventory management or equivalent experience.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in production or logistics administration preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft office, Excel and Outlook.
  • Training or related experience in SAP type ERP/MRP systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of order entry and inventory control procedures.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills including effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Salary: $57,000.00- $85,000.00 annually. A starting salary higher than $57,000 annually is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale
