Placements24 is seeking an experienced Operations Manager for a warehousing and distribution hub in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will lead daily warehouse activities, ensure accurate inventory, and drive efficiency and cost reductions while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires hands-on leadership, expertise in WMS and ERP systems, and a track record of optimizing large-scale FMCG warehousing and distribution networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in warehouse operations management in FMCG.
• Strong knowledge of WMS and ERP systems.
• Proven leadership and team management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing and dispatch.

About the Role

Our client, a significant player in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is seeking a skilled and experienced Operations Manager for its warehousing and distribution hub. This role is based in Kimberley, Northern Cape . You will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe operation of the warehouse, ensuring timely dispatch and receipt of goods, managing inventory accuracy, and leading the operational team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, a deep understanding of warehouse management systems and best practices, and a proven track record in operational efficiency within the FMCG industry. You will play a key role in optimizing processes, reducing costs, and ensuring the highest standards of service for our clients and customers in Kimberley and beyond. This position requires a hands‑on approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching goods. Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels. Manage inventory levels to ensure accuracy, minimize stock discrepancies, and optimize stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO). Implement and enforce strict health and safety procedures within the warehouse environment. Lead, train, and motivate a team of warehouse staff to achieve operational targets. Manage relationships with third‑party logistics providers and carriers. Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory, manage orders, and generate performance reports. Conduct regular audits of warehouse operations to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance overall operational performance. Collaborate with procurement, sales, and logistics teams to ensure seamless supply chain flow.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in warehouse operations management, with a strong emphasis on the FMCG industry . Proven experience in managing large‑scale warehousing operations and distribution networks. Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems. Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills. Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities. In‑depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to warehousing. Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean principles). Familiarity with the Kimberley or broader Northern Cape logistics landscape is a plus.
