Job summary

Save-On-Foods in Squamish, BC, is seeking an Operations Manager to lead the store team, drive customer-first service and operational excellence. The role involves coaching, health and safety, merchandising, and front-end operations while supporting HR, budgeting, and daily store performance.

The successful candidate will have 2–3 years of team leadership experience, a Food Safe certification, and a background in retail, preferably in Fresh departments.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience leading a team and supporting store operations.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.
• Experience in Fresh department(s) in retail is an asset.
• Experience and/or knowledge with achieving sales targets, budgeting, merchandising, HR, health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Leading the store team, coaching, mentoring and driving Always Customer First service.
• Delivering operational excellence across customer experience, health and safety, food safety, merchandising and front end operations.
• Assisting with recruitment, training, performance management, rewards/recognition and succession planning.
• Communicating key messages to ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Ensuring strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty are implemented.
• Reviewing store performance metrics and dashboards for insights.
• Supporting income statements and opportunities to meet targets and grow profit.
• Supporting inventory and stocktaking across the store.
• Carrying out duties throughout the store, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing long hours.

Job Title & Location

We are hiring an Operations Manager at our Save-On-Foods location in Squamish, BC. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.

Responsibilities

• Leading the store team, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
• Delivering operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, merchandising, and front end operations.
• Assisting with team member related matters (e.g., recruitment, training, performance management, rewards/recognition, succession planning, administration of the collective agreement (if applicable), and conflict resolution).
• Communicating key messages to the store team to ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Ensuring the successful implementation of strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Reviewing and analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards to monitor store performance.
• Supporting the Assistant Store Manager in reviewing and analyzing income statements and working with the management team to identify opportunities to meet targets, grow profit and improve store performance.
• Supporting inventory and stocktaking in all areas of the store.
• Performing all job duties throughout the store as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience leading a team and supporting store operations.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.
• Experience working in the Fresh department(s) in a retail environment is an asset.
• Experience and/or knowledge with: Achieving sales targets and profitability.
  Financial planning and budgeting.
  Developing and executing merchandising plans.
  Human Resources (e.g. recruitment and onboarding, health and safety, coaching and mentoring).
  Employee/Labour Relations, workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
  Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  Proficiency with computer applications.
