Job summary

Orion Steel Group, L.L.C. in Calgary is seeking an Operations Coordinator to connect administrative functions with production operations and keep activities running smoothly.

You will help bridge office and shop floor workflows and support hourly staff scheduling within the collective agreement, ensuring timely updates on boards and intranet. The role requires 2-5 years in operations or manufacturing support, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in operations, administrative coordination, or manufacturing support roles.
  • Well-organized with strong time management to handle a demanding workload.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of office procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Bridge administrative function with production operations to ensure office and shop floor activities run efficiently.
  • Manage and coordinate hourly staff schedules, overtime sheets and call priority lists per collective agreement.
  • Post updates on the board and intranet in a timely manner.
  • Adjust timecards, cost centres, and job codes; handle holiday adjustments as applicable.
  • Monitor vacation calendars and vacation pay requests for hourly staff.
  • Maintain operational records including training records.
  • Coordinate safety meetings, Gemba walks, crew team meetings, etc.

Job Description and Responsibilities

Join our Calgary team as an Operations Coordinator, where you will play a key role in connecting administrative functions with production operations to keep activities running smoothly and efficiently.

  • Bridge administrative function with production operations, to ensure both office and shop floor activities run efficiently
  • Manage and coordinate hourly staff schedule and overtime sheets and call priority list, in compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • This include timely posting on the board and in company Intranet
  • Make necessary adjustments in employee timecards, cost centre, job code changes. Also includes holiday adjustments when applicable
  • Monitor and maintain hourly staff vacation calendar and vacation pay requests
  • Maintain operational records including collection of training records
  • Coordinate meetings for safety, Gemba walks, crew team meetings etc.
  • Provide customer service to employees
  • Act as a point of contact for coordinating activities of employees’ uniforms
  • Act as cross department liaison
  • Coordinate between production, maintenance, HR and quality teams to ensure smooth operations
  • Coordinate company community engagement activities and/or special events
  • Performs other administrative support duties to Operations as assigned

Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in business administration, operations or relevant education
  • 2-5 years’ experience in operations, administrative coordination, or manufacturing support roles
  • Well-orgaized and flexible with well-developed time management skills to handle a demanding workload and multiple/tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of office procedures
  • Strong attention to detail
