Job summary

Orion Steel Group, L.L.C. is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a mechanical maintenance team, coordinating installation, inspection and repair of machinery and systems.

You will develop preventive maintenance programs, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and manage on-call coverage. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical fields or an accredited apprenticeship/Journeyman with 5 years in maintenance and 2–5 years in supervision; union experience is preferred, along with

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical field or accredited apprenticeship/Journeyman.
  • 5 years of experience in a mechanical maintenance role and 2–5 years’ supervisory or lead experience.
  • Experience leading in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, pneumatics, pressure vessels, motorized drive systems.
  • LOTO procedures for safely isolating and securing equipment.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and P&ID; troubleshooting mechanical operations.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel and personnel scheduling.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Must be available for on-call and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule maintenance staff activities.
  • Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery, equipment, and systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify hazards and repairs.
  • Develop preventive maintenance programs to improve reliability and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and policies.
  • Assist in procuring and organizing parts and materials for repairs.
  • Coordinate maintenance tasks with other departments to minimize disruptions.
  • Provide training, guidance, and performance management to maintenance team.
  • Document maintenance activities and generate reports.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and coordinate emergency repairs.

Job Description and Responsibilities
  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of maintenance staff to ensure timely, high-quality work
  • Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical machinery, equipment, and systems
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify hazards, defects, or necessary repairs
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance, training programs and schedules to enhance equipment reliability and safety
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies
  • Assisting in procuring, organizing, and inventorying parts and materials needed for repairs
  • Communicate and collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance tasks and minimize operational disruptions
  • Provide training, guidance, and performance management for maintenance team members
  • Document maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and generate technical reports
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and coordinate emergency repairs

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in the mechanical field, or a completed accredited apprenticeship/ Journeyman; 5 years of experience in a mechanical maintenance role and 2-5 years’ supervisory or lead experience
  • Experience leading in unionized environment is preferred
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, pneumatics, pressure vessels, motorized drive systems
  • Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Procedures as to safely isolate and secure equipment during maintenance or repair
  • Proficient in blueprint reading, P&ID and troubleshooting of mechanical operations of equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and personnel scheduling
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Must be available and flexible to be on call and work weekends when required
  • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions
