Job summary

Northern Computer Inc. is seeking a motivated Field Service Technician to join our on-site team, delivering practical IT support to clients across BC and Alberta.

You will be the face on site, resolving issues, performing proactive visits, and coordinating with Service Desk, NOC/SOC, Projects, and Account Management. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in IT field services, strong troubleshooting, excellent communication, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years IT Field Services experience.
• Minimum 3 years supporting business technology environments.
• Tier 2–3 technical support experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer-service abilities.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Willing to travel up to 75% of the time.
• Work location is in-person.

Responsibilities

• Perform onsite technical support as the primary technician for client environments, handling Tier 1-2 issues.
• Diagnose, repair, and validate fixes for endpoint, network edge, and infrastructure problems.
• Complete proactive site visits with documented findings and follow-ups.
• Install and stage hardware including server racks, access points, switches, firewalls, servers, and peripherals.
• Execute device moves/changes and support deployments with NOC, Service Desk, and Projects.
• Maintain high-quality ticketing practices: documentation, time entries, photos, notes, next steps.
• Update IT Glue documentation after onsite visits and configuration changes.
• Communicate clearly with end users and site contacts; provide professional onsite interactions.
• Ensure hardware is recovered and tools/vehicle are well-organized.
• Surface opportunities, risks, and project/quote needs with context.
