Job summary

A healthcare facility in Petersville Parish is seeking a Multi Trade Crafts Person - Fitter to provide efficient maintenance services across its operations. The successful candidate will perform planned and reactive maintenance, enhance existing facilities, and participate in on-call rotations. Qualifications

Multi Trade Crafts Person - Fitter

A vacancy has arisen for a Multi Trade Craftsperson - Mechanical Fitter at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Working for the Operations and Maintenance Division, as part of a multi discipline team providing reactive and planned preventative maintenance to Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge Hospitals.

Main duties of the job
  • To participate in providing and maintaining an efficient planned and reactive maintenance service to all wards and departments of Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust also including other healthcare organisations who occupy WUTH site i.e. Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, St Johns Hospice, Cheshire & Wirral NHS Microbiology Service.
  • To execute, both planned and reactive maintenance, work requests as required, thereby contributing to the smooth running of the existing hospital buildings and services, in order to maintain an environment suitable for providing healthcare within major hospital.
  • To carry out minor schemes and adaptations to wards and departments. This work may include the amendment of existing building layouts or the creation of new layouts and fixtures and fittings.
  • Participation in an on‑call rota, which provides trade cover to both hospital on a 24‑hour 7 day per week basis.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
  • Advanced City & Guilds in mechanical engineering or equivalent which has been studied for whilst completing a recognised apprenticeship. (min 3 years) and a broad, post apprenticeship, experience (5 years) of work undertaken by mechanical fitting craftsperson
  • Engineering / Building based NVQ level 2 / 3 qualification, outside of core trade, which allows the post holder to work in a multi‑skilled way. Those entering the service without these qualifications will need to complete relevant training within 12 months.
  • Training in the following areas would be desirable: Computer/ keyboard skills ECDL First Aid
  • Training in the following areas would be desirable: A sound understanding of control systems, Primary and secondary compensated systems. Zone valves and pumping sets. Medical Gas Systems Goods and passenger lifts Building management Systems Customer Service Principles and Practice Manual Handling Training Lift passenger release training
