The successful candidate will troubleshoot complex issues independently, perform preventive maintenance, and collaborate with a day-shift team including a Maintenance Lead and fellow technicians.

Qualifications

  • Valid 433A Millwright License.
  • Experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environments (stamping presses, roll forming, extrusion, or thread cutting).
  • Proficiency in reading PLC logic, Allen Bradley systems.
  • Ability to understand how sensors interact with PLCs to locate faults.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, isolate, and repair complex automated production equipment.
  • Perform root cause analysis on breakdowns and improve PM schedules.
  • Adhere to preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and overtime.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot automated production lines, ensuring sensors and I/O work properly.
  • Inspect equipment, log findings, and input work orders into a CMMS.
  • Follow SH&E practices, enforce LOTO and machine guarding programs.
  • Attend shift crossover meetings and coordinate with production and external vendors.

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Millwright to join a stable, global leader in industrial manufacturing at their facility in Hamilton.

This role is vital to optimizing the availability, quality, and speed automated production lines by maintaining both mechanical and electrical subsystems.

The ideal candidate will be a strong, full-cycle troubleshooter capable of diagnosing complex issues independently and executing standard-setting repairs. You will join a dedicated day‑shift team comprising a Maintenance Lead, fellow technicians, and a tool and die maker.

Shift: Straight Days 7-3
Payrate: $48-52/hour

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, isolate, and execute repairs on complex, automated production equipment.
  • Able to perform root cause analysis on breakdowns; continuously suggest improvements to PM schedule
  • Adhere to strict preventative maintenance schedules in collaboration with operations to minimize downtime and eliminate unnecessary overtime.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot automated production lines (including multi-equipment linked conveyor systems), ensuring proper functionality of sensors and input/output systems.
  • Inspect plant equipment regularly, log findings, and input structured work orders into an electronic CMMS system.
  • Foster a rigid Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) culture. Strictly adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and machine guarding programs.
  • Attend shift crossover meetings to discuss ongoing machinery concerns, partner with production teams, and coordinate with external vendors when specialized support is needed.

Qualifications

  • Valid 433A Millwright License
  • Extensive experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environments—specifically heavy steel production involving stamping presses, roll forming, extrusion, or thread cutting
  • Automation & PLC Proficiency: Proven ability to read and understand Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) logic, specifically Allen Bradley systems.
  • Must understand how sensors interact with PLCs to track and isolate faults across linked systems
